MADE IT TO OSLO

Our SAS flight left Frankfort on time at noon.  I was mistaken about the departure time but made it to the gate few minutes before boarding started anyway.  It was a Boeing 737-800 with no divider between business/first class and coach, just a sign on seat back saying business class ends there.  Luck ran out as a baby behind us but it was best kid ever.  Slept whole way.  Once again I was very disappointed with what Scandinavian Airlines called "business class" (there is no first class).  Food, what there was of it, was fair at best.  Well, we paid for a safe flight to Oslo and that is what we got!  Arrived on time and again walked forever to get out.  Stopped at Duty Free to get some wine as was advised to get it there as prices in Olso were outrageous.  Our baggage claim was just outside Duty Free.  Waited, and waited, and waited for our luggage.  We all thought it had been lost but after about an hour all the bags came out on belt.

I got two luggage carts that were loaded full and headed out for what I thought would be customs and immigrations but there was none.  Just walked out!  We found an ATM to get some Norwegian Kroners (their money).  I had researched internet and found best way to get from airport to our hotel was by a SAS bus service.  The airport is about 35 miles from downtown.  The bus was right outside baggage claim and cost $25 per person.  Good deal with all out luggage!  It took us directly to our hotel, the Radisson Blu Scandinavia.  Our driver was super nice and told us he could not get as close to the hotel today as he usually does because security troops had the street in front of the hotel blocked.  The US Attorney General, Eric Holder (worthless Obama guy) is staying in our hotel tonight.  Norwegian military and secret service everywhere.  Our driver called the hotel and had a bell man meet our bus about a block away to haul our luggage for us.  What a nice guy!
Security loved having photo made with the girls.
I had reserved business class rooms for Charlotte & Jane and us.  They are nice rooms but like European hotel rooms, they are not very large.  We have a nice view of the city and fjords where our cruise ship will be docking on Thursday morning.  I estimate we are about a half mile from the dock.  I put two of our bottles of chardonnay (from Duty Free) in our waste basket and filled it with ice.  I could not wait to get into shower while wine was cooling.  Good to shower, shave, and brush teeth after over 30 hours of traveling.  The girls came over for happy hour in our room then we headed to Tullin's Cafe right behind the hotel.  I had read about it on Trip Advisor.  Food was very good and prices (for Norway) reasonable.  We had a wonderful waitress from Romania who I enjoyed teasing and she enjoyed giving it right back to me.

Ok, 9:00 pm here (2 pm at home).  It's been a LONG day and time for some sleep.  I told girls that breakfast (included with room) is at 9 am.  Weather permitting, we will try to see some of the city tomorrow. Was nice evening today and hope more good weather for tomorrow.  Certainly is not cold here.  Locals think it is very hot (maybe 75F today)??
